Benefits of Spay and Neuter

As a responsible pet owner, you want your pet to have a long and healthy life. Having to go through pregnancies and finding homes for unwanted puppies and kittens is not responsible.  Each heat cycle your pet goes through increases the chances your pet will develop breast cancer.  Your female cats and dogs will be much healthier if they don't have to go through heat cycles and the results.

Especially with cats, they can become quite crazed when they are in heat and can get very vocal. They may also urinate frequently and not necessarily in their litter box. It may be best to get them spayed before they go into heat the first time. This may make them much less likely to get uterine infections and breast cancer.

Male dogs and cats can develop testicular cancer and in dogs, prostate issues.  In cats testicular cancer is a lot less likely. A male dog who is neutered is may be less likely to try to escape out of your house or yard and roam looking for a female. Neutered dogs and cats are much less likely to mark their territory than pets who are intact. It may make your pet more docile, but there is no guarantee of that. They also may be less inclined to hump other animals, inanimate objects, and people's legs.

Neutering and spaying might also not cure bad habits that your pet may have already learned.
