Here at Arbor Ridge Pet Clinic in Fitchburg, WI, we care about the health and safety of your pets. That's why we will be discussing some of the most common signs of pet allergies.

Persistent Itchiness

Constant scratching and licking are one of the most common signs of dog allergies. If you notice your pet is scratching himself more than usual, it could be a sign that he is trying to relieve an itch caused by an allergy.

Hives and Swelling

If you notice your pet has hives or is swelling, it can be important to take them to the vet right away as it could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. A good thing to do is to take your pet to a veterinarian to help address the symptoms.

Heavy Sneezing

If your pet is sneezing more than usual, it could be a sign of allergies. Allergies can cause inflammation in the nose and sinuses, which leads to increased mucus production and sneezing.

Vomiting and Diarrhea

Food allergies in pets may lead to diarrhea and vomiting. If your pet has these symptoms, it can be important to take them to a veterinary clinic right away as they could be dehydrated. A veterinarian will most likely put your pet on a special diet to see if their symptoms improve.
