Pet Dental Care Services at Arbor Ridge Pet Clinic

Dental Care Services

Proper dental care is critical not only for your pets' oral health, but general health as well. Poor dental hygiene can lead to bacteria entering the bloodstream and can damage vital organs. If you're looking for a veterinarian in Fitchburg, WI, that is trained in dental care for cats and dogs, we at Arbor Ridge Pet Clinic can help. We use pet care technology and techniques to help ensure your pet gets the best dental care possible, as well as to help ensure your pet's safety while under anesthesia.

What to Expect at Your Pet's Dental Cleaning

When you bring your pet in for their dental appointment, we may put your pet under anesthesia to make sure he is compliant during the process. We will first begin with a pet exam to ensure your pet is healthy enough to be placed under general anesthesia. We might then do a cleaning to remove tartar and plaque from the teeth and below the gum line. During this time, a vet on our team will check for signs of other periodontal disease.

If severe decay or damage is found, a vet on our veterinary team may perform a tooth extraction and then finish the dental procedure with polishing and a breath treatment. Your pet might then be monitored for sometime after the procedure to ensure no complications arise from the anesthesia.

How Often Should My Pet Have His Teeth Cleaned?

It is recommended pets have their teeth cleaned at least once a year. Your puppy or kitten likely won’t need a dental cleaning due to their age but a vet on our team may recommend an initial dental check at his first vet visit just to be safe.
